Experience a natural wonder up close

Aare Gorge

The Aare river begins in the Grimsel area and snakes its way down from the wild mountainous landscape to the valley below. Over thousands of years, the Aare river has eroded a gorge through the limestone walls between Meiringen and Innertkirchen which is 1,400m long and up to 200m high. The Aare Gorge opened to the public in 1888. Visit this amazing site and walk along the pathways and through the tunnels which takes approx. 45 minutes. A great experience in any weather!
