The past and the present come together at the Hotel Grimsel Hospiz as the earliest documented guesthouse in Switzerland stood near here in the year 1142. In 1932, when the new hotel was built to replace the lower lying Hospiz, it was the first electrically heated hotel in Europe. This environmental awareness also played a role in the comprehensive renovation of the hotel which took place between  2008 and 2010: the entire hotel is heated by the waste heat from the power plant below. This historic four-star hotel thrones majestically over the Grimsel hydrolake in the heart of KWO country.

Per double room and night CHF 175.00 to 395.00: including rich breakfast, service and VAT (without taxes).

Price per person: winter
Per person and night CHF 168.00 to 261.00: including generous brunch buffet, coffee & cakes in the afternoon, use of the hot-tub and sauna. CHF 74.00 per person for the exciting journey up to the hotel. The Prices are without taxes.

The Grimsel Hospiz will remain closed for the public during the winter saison 2024/25

During the winter of 2024/25, important and substantial work will take place on Lake Grimsel at the major construction site for the replacement of the Spitallamm dam – located directly next to the Grimsel Hospiz. The hotel rooms at the Grimsel Hospiz and the restaurant will then be needed by employees from KWO and other companies. Due to the construction works, more disruption and noise than is normal during the winter can also be expected. As a result, the hotel will unfortunately not be open to guests during the winter season 2024/25. Thank you for your understanding.

We look forward to welcoming you in winter 2023/24 and in the summer of 2024. Once the construction work is finished, we will see you again in summer 2025.
